Joe Terry, Managing Director, Terry Insurance Agency

After a long career as a Software Engineer, I was at a crossroads where I realized that I wanted more control over my time and income as I learned I was going to be a grandfather.

I cannot even spell “retirement” and I have, in my mind, many things to build, yet, but foremost, I want to leave a financial legacy that will impact the Seventh Generation and beyond according to the philosophy of the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois), “People of the Long House”.

I had started many businesses over my life, a filmmaker/documentarian, an online radio host, an urban farmer, but none that were successful enough to leave the kind of legacy, of which I had dreamed.

I still desire to revisit each and every one of those previous business concepts, because I believe I now know how I can achieve my original mission with each one, but I needed a spark and a new business concept as an organizing principle.

Also, I realized that financial success, alone, would not satisfy my desire to impact the world at large. I’m not a doctor, so curing cancer is out, but I do know something about money, because I’ve lost and made a lot, and so many are burdened with debt, that my mission was clear. I want to relieve as many families as possible from the burden of debt.

I want families everywhere to live a Debt-Free Life and not worry about the burden of the expense of college tuition, for all their children, as my family did, when I was not so smart about money.

Each of us will do this by “Becoming our Own Bank”, wherein we will defeat the twin ancient evils, from the time of the Roman Empire of taxes and finance charges.

We must eliminate the burden of taxes and all forms of debt,  credit card debt, car loans, financing of any kind that ordinary wage earning people suffer differently from the business class.

I found my solution in the business of becoming a life insurance agent, which is both a simple business with wide and enduring applicability to everyone and can be quite lucrative, with the right skills, mindset and determination.

I began to research the history of life insurance and ran across a concept called, “Infinite Banking”. Not only did it inspire me, I found that I had been brushing up against it, in one way or another, time and time again, in different contexts, my whole adult working life.

And then I found, the book.

“Becoming your own Banker”, by R. Nelson Nash.

In my desire to benefit my own family and leave a legacy, I found a “Mission” that I could bring to friends, family, my African-American relatives, communities of faith, a Nation, a World.

I hope to invest my remaining years on this earth enriching the financial lives of every family with which I come into contact.

Please consider using our services and perhaps joining in our mission, if you are looking for a powerful, new mission of your own.

I wish for you that you create an enduring financial legacy for your family that impacts the Seventh Generation of your family and that each generation learns the same lessons so that the legacy you and I create endures forever.
